inspiruption is an online magazine, dedicated to interrupting your day with inspiration.
On August 9, 2018, I turned forty. It was the most upsetting, exhilarating, confusing, and incredibly amazing day of my life. I was on an Alaskan cruise, getting ready to anchor in Ketchikan, when it occurred to me that nearly "half of my life" was now "over". I spent the morning reflecting on all that I had achieved in my last thirty-nine years of life: I had already traveled much of the world (as you will see), lived in a few cities, met incredible people from all walks of life, attended/hosted events that many only saw in magazines and in movies, held dream jobs, wrote for major publications and my own well-known (now shuttered) blog, and had pushed myself outside of my comfort zone more times than I can count. I had also shattered my own perceptions on what I "should" be doing with my life, as well as who I "should" be doing it with, opting to remain open to the endless possibilities in front of me.
I Googled "successful women who started in their forties" and out popped a list of articles about some of the most successful women in the world that didn’t start having success until their fourth decade. The more I clicked through the articles, the more inspired I became to keep pushing myself to be better, to search for new ways to improve myself, and to follow through with the dreams I had not yet achieved. And then, out of nowhere, something hit me. It doesn’t matter the age - we all feel stuck until we’re not. We search for validation that our lives will serve a purpose, that we can achieve new things no matter our point in life, and that we can enjoy everything else along the way. We want inspiring stories about real women our age who are fearlessly forging their own paths. We want health and wellness tips that transcend skin, sizes, and ages. We want comfortable, yet fun travel that help us escape and recharge. And we want those fun little tips and tricks that just make life worth living.
It is with this in mind that I launched Inspiruption - a place for you to interrupt your own day with the inspiration you need to create the life you are meant to live.
