Durango is one of those movie-quality western towns that everyone needs to see at least once. Nestled in the mountains, within a reasonable driving distance from many states, it offers a great weekend experience!

If there’s one word that can describe this mile-high city, it’s “growth”. Like any city, it faced its ups and downs, but it’s one of few that continues its comeback story even better than before. If you love history, food, and the excitement of what’s around you, then this city is for you!

Cortez’s and Mesa Verde’s histories span over 11,000 years when Native Americans owned the land. And, somehow, much of this history is still preserved in the beautiful national parks these towns still have. It’s worth the stop - especially to see the ancient pueblos!

Boulder is a beautiful, artsy town, nestled in the Colorado mountains. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon, leisurely taking in the sights of Pearl Street, or exploring abandoned areas.

Visiting Winston-Salem is like diving head-first into a time capsule. Both the downtown area, as well as the historic area, are so well-preserved that you feel like a time traveler, going from the 1700s all the way through the 1940s. It’s just that cool.

Raleigh is a former heavy industrial city-turned “hipster’s paradise” with restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, and cocktail bars throughout. It made for a great weekend getaway that we can’t wait to visit again.

I hate western films but love historic western towns! Mesilla and Las Cruces, NM are time capsules rich with vigilante and cowboy history.

Sedona is what made me move here. There’s something magical, almost supernatural about it, drawing you in every chance it gets. It’s forever my spiritual place.

Nestled between Jerome and Sedona is our favorite little town, Cottonwood. While it doesn’t look like much, it’s filled with mining history, wine tasting rooms, and incredible restaurants. Eating dinner in a former insane asylum, followed by touring a theater with a gruesome past, makes Jerome feel like Halloween every day.

Imagine stepping off the train or plane and heading to your hotel on a water taxi, then dropping your luggage off to head to St. Mark’s Square and sip on coffee at Florian Cafe. These are just some of the iconic things to do in Venice!

We were in Florence a week and we still don’t feel like we saw it all. It’s the birthplace of so much history and art, the epicenter for powerful families, and a place so well preserved in time that you don’t know whether you’ve time traveled. And… don’t get us started on the food scene and fashion houses galore!

Siena was one of those unexpected medieval Tuscan towns that is so well-preserved, you feel like a time traveler. It’d worth a day trip, so put it on your list!

Talk about so many things to see and not enough time to see them in! If you haven’t been to this wonderous city, GO NOW. Between the history that dates back thousands of years, the shopping, the food, and the wine… there’s enough to keep you busy for nearly a week!
